The Educational Empowerment Initiative is a year-round program designed to remove financial, resource, technology, and opportunity barriers to learning. Although the Ready to Learn Back-to-School Program is an important part of the initiative, the overall program extends far beyond backpacks and school supplies.
Why it Matters
Educational success can be affected by whether a student has basic school supplies, books, reliable technology, academic support, exposure to career opportunities, and adults who can connect them to resources. Adults can also face educational barriers that affect employment, financial stability, and personal development. This initiative allows Lydia's Nest to support learning across different stages of life.
What We Provide
- Ready to Learn Back-to-School programming, including backpacks and school supplies.
- Books, literacy resources, and reading support.
- Tutoring and academic enrichment opportunities through partnerships.
- Technology and digital-learning resources as funding allows.
- College and career readiness activities.
- Youth enrichment and educational workshops.
- Adult education, practical life-skills learning, and workforce-related resources.
The Bigger Goal
The goal is to help participants become better equipped to succeed in school, employment, and everyday life. By treating education as a year-round pathway rather than a seasonal event, Lydia's Nest can develop partnerships and programs that support academic achievement, career preparation, lifelong learning, and economic mobility.
