The Emergency Food Access Initiative is Lydia's Nest's comprehensive response to food insecurity. The program provides emergency food assistance to individuals and families who are experiencing financial hardship, an unexpected crisis, or barriers to obtaining enough nutritious food. The initiative is designed not only to address immediate hunger, but also to connect households with resources that may help improve their long-term stability.
Why it Matters
Food insecurity can affect children, working families, older adults, individuals with disabilities, people experiencing homelessness, and households facing job loss or other financial emergencies. Rural communities may face additional challenges such as limited transportation and fewer nearby food resources. Lydia's Nest responds by bringing food and community resources closer to the people who need them.

The Bigger Goal
The goal is to move beyond simply distributing groceries. Food assistance can become the first point of connection between a household and Lydia's Nest. From there, participants may be connected to healthcare, benefits, employment resources, transportation assistance, or other services that address the circumstances contributing to instability.
